President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.
