The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their first World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Behind three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total October home runs, placing him third in history after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.

Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
