New Details Surface Regarding the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the untimely deaths of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
The source also disputed published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
