Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
