Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
